‘Fix the Act!’ - Rally for Women's Rights in Sydney
Sydney - we’re rallying!
Women’s organisations and independent women from across Australia will gather in Sydney on Sunday 23 August at 12 noon.
Join us to call on the Commonwealth Parliament to restore clear and effective sex-based protections in Australian law.
Venue: Martin Place Amphitheatre Martin Place, between Pitt Street and Castlereagh Street, Sydney
Regrettably, Sall Grover will no longer be able to attend the rally following threats to her personal safety. Women’s Rights Network Australia unequivocally condemns threats, harassment, intimidation, and violence directed at anyone participating in public debate. No one should be made to fear for their safety because they wish to speak publicly about women’s rights and the law.
The rally will proceed as planned at Martin Place Amphitheatre from 12:00 noon.
Speakers include:
Kirralie Smith, women’s sport advocate and Director of Binary Australia
Jasmine Sussex, breastfeeding advocate
The Lesbian Action Group, which has been involved in litigation concerning lesbian-only events and the Australian Human Rights Commission
Anna Kerr, Principal Solicitor at the Feminist Legal Clinic
Professor Dianna Kenny, psychologist, academic and author
Professor Clive Hamilton, philosopher and public intellectual
Additional speakers and voices from the community will participate throughout the afternoon.
There will be a police presence at the event.
